KHA Seng Group is set to go all out to market its event spaces under its property development arm, in view of the growing demand for such facilities in Kuala Lumpur.
The company’s group chief executive officer Aaron Soo said, since Kuala Lumpur is a city that is constantly buzzing with activity, there is great demand for venue space in the city.
“The success of an event is dependent on several factors and location and venue are undeniably the most important considerations.
“Venue means visibility, accessibility, safety, comfort and parking, and when located in a prime location, it is a selling point for the those who manage them,” said Soo during an interview after unveiling Kha Seng Group’s collective event space at Vivatel Kuala Lumpur in Jalan Loke Yew recently.
Soo said the group had pumped in more than RM15mil to upgrade and refurbish its collective event space of more than 138,000sq ft, which includes the 62,000sq ft Star Stage@KWC in KWC Fashion Mall, Viva Home Shopping Mall’s 55,000sq ft Expo Hall, 1,000-seater pillar-free Grand Ballroom at Vivatel and the highly visible outdoor stage at Central Market Kuala Lumpur, among others.
“Work is being carried out in stages and we will definitely have to pump in more funds in order to ensure the spaces are adequately equipped with the necessary facilities and equipment,” said Soo, adding that the upgrading work, which started in April is scheduled to be completed in September.
He said the group is confident that the event spaces will generate income. A special events committee had also been set up to oversee this.
At KWC, fashionistas and shopaholics will discover over 800 shops offering everything under fashion category, including fashion for women, men and kids, accessories, bags and others.
Kha Seng group is seeking to offer more venue space in KL similar to its Kenanga Wholesale City.
“Pricing of the venue would depend on the size of the event and its duration.
“By bringing in more events, we would definitely witness more spending in our mall as well as food and beverages outlets,” said Soo. He added that unlike some event space, Kha Seng’s were located in strategic locations in the city, apart from being fully furnished with parking lots, changing rooms, stage, lighting and security, among others.
The group will be launching a RM60mil wholesale shopping mall in Lorong Haji Taib, Kuala Lumpur soon. The gross development value of the retail property development, which has a similar concept to KWC, is worth RM90mil.
Kha Seng Group is a fast growing conglomerate of companies with the strength and proven track record in niche retail property development.
